ABOUT TPF

Let's start off with a little history, eh?

The Pokmon Friend started of as just another fan site trying to be all-that in mid-august of 1999. Version 1 was the simplest possible webpage, no tables, frames, or anything but my two years of HTML programming knowledge. I was quite immature then, naive to the world and ready to present my case no matter what.

Around late September '99, Version 2 of The Pokmon Friend was released. It hosted an array of bad pictures and tried to become a e-zine formated site, which failed miserably. It was in Version 2 that the very first stories were written, three sets in an incomplete walkthrough of the Blue version game that covered every detail left out by your major walkthroughs and then some. Version 2 still lacked tables, as in two years I hadn't ever heard of them.

Near mid- to late-November '99, I discovered UPNetwork. Then they weren't quite as big as they are now, but still insanely large. I fell in love, and, I am ashamed to admit, discovered tables via looking at their code. I tweaked it and began to learn about the crazy HTML codes and released Version 3, a close-copy of UPNetwork's layout with a few changes in subject and organization. The good thing, however, was I discovered Frosterfree's Caterpie Forest, then Icy's Caterpie Forest or something of the like, I don't recall, and began to write my first fan fiction. It was entitled Pokmon Phrophesy and was a horrible five-part series that wasn't anywhere near the beginning of EGM, let alone now. But, I was writing, so I was happy. I subscribed to PFFMLA and discovered Ace Sanchez and Pokmon Master, as well as the funniest author of all time, MewtwoDude, whom I have lost track of, sadly.

Around late December, I began to work on the site a lot, and learned more about images and HTML. Version 4 was released, including the first black color scheme and my understanding of tables. Various variations of Version 4 continued until it evolved into something that resembled Version 5, the "Millenium Edition" [yes, I know the millenium is 2001!], only lacking the right-hand bar. The first variant of v.4 had the fanfic which, at the time, I had no idea would have such a profound impact on my writing ability and life, Erik -- Grass Master. This story should have at least 25 chapters when I am finished, and is well over 60 pages in length, size 10 Times New Roman font, Microsoft Word. It is over 200 Kilobytes, a bit small if you think large-scale, but a good bit for my first long-running story. I have recieve numerous favorable accounts of it, and am proud enough that I think I am safe to call it acclaimed.

Near the end of Spring, I released Version 5, the longest running version of the site to date, almost four months. A lot of my major plot work on EGM was done then, as well as the gaining of many affiliates. I met Wild C [Charizard Valley], whom has become a good friend and supporter that I thank. I began working on a Version 6, the "Lost Version" that is still half-complete in my comp. But I decided that it was too flashy, I was going down the wrong road, and decided to released a different site altogether, Version 7 of The Pokmon Friend, the site you see before you. It has been open over a year, recieved generally favorable audiences, and gratefully has many good affiliates. For this, I thank you all.

Now that you're up to date, more or less, with the site, what exactly is this site about? Well, if you're at this page, you more than likely have figured out how to use the navigation bar at the top of each page. Just let your mouse hover still over a linking window, and in a moment the alt tag should appear and detail the length. If you need help identifying them, they are organized like this:

- nav bar explanation -

Once you know how to get around, you'll what to know what everything means, I suppose... Well, I can explain that, in the below paragraphs assigned to each section:

MAIN
The Main section is the Updates page, it is the first site you visit when you enter via the index, and the page where anything I changed is told to you. I rant, rave, and write there, so enjoy!

STORIES
There are three pages for stories. The first is Erik -- Grass Master, almost always referred to as EGM. This is my longest-lasting story of all time, and the one that I suggest you read, it is what draws the audience. Next is Hostile Selection, a story that is currently on hold until I finish EGM. Hostile Selection is a Pokmon Fan Fiction as well, but it bears no connection to the anime/game except for the creatures, it takes place on a different continent, nor EGM, except that it takes place on Dedrumont Islands before the destruction we see in EGM. Last but not least, Other Stories, where I put all my... well, other stories. They may or may not be Pokmon related, so check them out for my other writing side...

ABOUT
About TPF is, well, this page. -.- Profile & More is my profile, on just who the heck I am and some other nifty things about me.

LINKS
The links are pretty self-explanatory. Affiliates are my affiliates. Links are links. Ah, but the spotlight... what is it, you ask? Well, the Spotlight is a sight that I salute and call to attention for you to enjoy. It is a site that I think has excelled in its goal and content. Basically, I "Spotlight" the best sites. I change it whenever I want to, so a link may be up for a couple of weeks or an hour.

FEATURES
The Gallery is the area of the site where I keep my pictures. Simple enough. The Message Board is TPF's hold on The Chaos Board, and the Mailing List is a newsletter that I send out weekly.

I hope this has helped to tell you a little more about TPF. Enjoy!
